Hello! I’m hoping to get some help from a fluent (or fluent-ish) German speaker on researching what the out-of-pocket cost of an ECT (/EKT/elektrokonvulsionstherapie/electroconvulsive therapy, etc.) treatment would cost in Germany. \*Not\* a whole series of treatments, just one treatment (maintenance, done once a month), as a day patient rather than an inpatient (but both $ values are useful). I currently get maintenance ECT and recently realized I would not be able to get these treatments covered by German health insurance were I to move there, so it’s very important for me to know!

I did find this research article/editorial: [https://www.kvpm.de/was-wir-tun/eingaben-an-ausschuesse/2020/wir-fordern-ein-gesetzliches-verbot-von-elektroschocks-ekt-als-folter](https://www.kvpm.de/was-wir-tun/eingaben-an-ausschuesse/2020/wir-fordern-ein-gesetzliches-verbot-von-elektroschocks-ekt-als-folter) and although it’s distinctly anti-ECT, it did provide this useful tidbit of information for me:

“dass die EKT ein einträgliches Geschäft ist. Kosten für einen stationären Klinikaufenthalt pro Tag: 300€. Erster Elektroschock: 385€ (zusätzlich), jeder weitere E-Schock „Therapiesitzung“ 271€ (zusätzlich). Dazu eine 1:1 Betreuung, falls nötig mit 1.000€ pro Tag extra.”

I was going to try calling Charité and the university hospital in Leipzig as well later today, I’m having some difficulty getting through via email.

Thank you \*very very\* much for any help you can provide researching this 🙂
