Suffolk councillors oppose East Anglia Green Energy pylons

  1. “More infrastructure. No, not like _that_. Nor that.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t burying the cables more disruptive, more time-consuming, and more expensive?

  2. Standard countryside behaviour. Staunchly oppose anything that will cause them a mild inconvenience or be unpleasant to look at, even if it was essential to other members of the public.

Can’t drive through a village of home owning pensioners with a dozen placards screaming ‘NO TO THE NEW BUILDING DEVELOPMENT!’ despite the fact that there’s quickly becoming more people than houses.

Quintessential I’ve got mine, so fuck you.

  3. The will of the people should be used.

Give them a referendum. If they want them buried they can be, they just have to have it added in full to their council tax, if they don’t want it, the councillor can still demand it and he can pay for it…

And after they all get upset and refuse to handle the consequences of their whingeing, we can just put up pylons like a sane country
