I already knew I’m not welcome in parts of our country, but this is a big yikes moment

> An 82-year-old man, though, didn’t agree and filed a criminal complaint.
So, the 82-year-old was the only one to whom this seemed odd?
>Weiss responded that people are reading too much into the Böögg, saying that it wasn’t intended as an attack on anyone. He also said that it’s an argument “against rampant narcissistic hypersensitivity and the pathological lack of humor.”
That… that sounds like an attack when you relate those things to trans people and diversity advocates, my bro.
Where is “DU WEIST DAS DAS VERBOTEN IST!!!11111” man when we need him most?
May the spirit of winter kill their crops and animals.
I don’t want to defend it or anything but is there a local newspaper to comment this because I can only find articles from English foreigner sources. And why a trans woman though?
If the effigy

The usual victim blaming, I wonder how would they react if the effigy was something representing Switzerland, Christianity, or whatever, they probably would be (rightly) pissed.
>“I am convinced that those responsible did not want to offend anyone but wanted to draw attention to the topic of diversity,” she said.
Or she’s dumb, or she pretending to be, becouse she know that this crap is indefensible.

It’s an effigy and it was meant in jest I don’t think we need to bring in this Americanization where everything always needs to lead to division.
that’s ridiculous.
This is a disgrace and pretending that humor could ever excuse this transphobic event is pathetic. I hope we soon make such acts illegal and morally unacceptable on a wide scale.
Isn’t it, by this logic, super sexist when you exclusively burn snowmen instead?
Yeah I don’t expect it any other way. As a foreigner who is queer, switzerland is racist and queerphbobic. Just that so few people actually care that it’s nothing really done about it. The incredibly sexist laws that are extremely gender specific don’t help either.

I get the past choice’s (Kim Jong-un, Gadhaffi etc.), totally worth burning them, but why would you put a trans-woman in this line? There is a little dictator in the east burning down Ukraine, another in the far east closing people in their homes without any food and your biggest problem is diversity? Are you fucking serious?
I am a trans-woman and I can make fun about myself and my dick, I have a very dark kind of humor but in this context there is nothing funny about this. You just tell people that you as a city disagree with a liberal society and also every queer person has that one queer friend that killed themself because they got rejected by their family or because they couldn’t stand this life anymore. Do they really think we would applaud when they burn „one of us“? Do they really think we are emotionless? Do they think we forgot how queer people were handled just 50 years ago? This is just discusting. I hope they get at least a fucking fine.
what the fuck bassersdorf.
imagine beeing a queer or trans kid, watching it go up in flames and watching people around you cheer and hearing them laugh. must feel pretty shitty.
> He also said that it’s an argument “against rampant narcissistic hypersensitivity and the pathological lack of humor.”
You just know they’d start a riot if you would burn a Swiss man holding a cow bell.
Ridiculous, but well what else to expect in Switzerland
Yikes… The older I get the less I like living here.
it’s a joke, reddit, get over it
😂
I’m a queer person living in this particular shit hole and I have to say I’m definitely not hanging my pride flag outside this year
How pathetically spineless.
>*‘I am convinced that those responsible did not want to offend anyone, but wanted to draw attention to the topic of diversity.’*
So not only was their shitty Böögg supposed to represent one of the most vulnerable and disempowered minority groups, but in fact they wanted to target the entire concept of diversity.
I know there are a few rural towns in the US which are safe heavens for the Ku Klux Klan, but I never quite imagined that such a place could exist in Switzerland. My mistake for being naive.
What kind of sick individuals would defend this sort of “cleanse it with fire” ritual as merely a jest?
>anything related to COVID-19 or Ukraine would be too sad, and it would be “happy and fun” to burn a trans woman instead
lmao this dudes’ statements make me wanna punch him in the face.
They could’ve made a Putin doll. But I’m sure they didnt wanna upset Vladimir, can’t risk him invading their shithole village.
Or a virus effigy would’ve actually been quite appropriate. Who would get upset over burning a representation of Covid?
No but seriously, this is gravely disconcerting. What if they had burned a black person effigy, would authorities remain just as indifferent?

Not surprising and still disgusting.
