08:55 Flights have landed at both GVA and ZRH. No departures yet.
That was my wish! Now its come true. A miracle?
Yeah, currently in a plane that landed in Basel instead of Zurich 1h ago (but Swiss keeps us in, just in case we can make the last bit soon…)
Argh! I’m supposed to fly out of Geneva Airport later this afternoon. Hope things will be resolved by then!
I hope my Sunday flight back to Geneva will be OK
The technical malfunction at Skyguide (Swiss Air Traffic Control) was resolved and traffic was able to resume from 08:30.
Note that resuming traffic isn’t a trivial matter as many planes are not where they’re supposed to be. It takes time to safely return to normal operations. So if you’re flying from / to / over Switzerland today, expect delays and perhaps even a cancellation.
If you look on flightradar24 it seems like the issue has been found and patched.
The controllers were also having not able to check tickets on the train I was on this morning. Their app was not working.
If I remember correctly, Skyguide outsourced its IT department in Hungary or something to reduce costs.
Guess being the clown of the European sky is priceless.
Edit: Can someone tell me if the military can fly?
Is this because of the internet explorer shutting down?
I’m in Zurich airport, flights right now seem departing normally. Mine is in one hour, hopefully it doesn’t get delay, I have a quite tight connection…

In [Zürich Airport](https://imgur.com/a/w4p0nqG), all flights are delayed until further notice.

I wonder why skyguide (Swiss air traffic controllers) suffered an outage.
All flights cancelled until 11:00

They said it is a hardware failure in a network component. [tagesanzeiger](https://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/informatikpanne-legt-flughafen-von-zuerich-und-genf-lahm-323297551326)

I was wondering why it was so quiet this morning.
