>Western countries are still indebted to Belarus for the losses suffered in World War II, but at the same time, they are trying to break into the territory of the state again and start fighting there.
Unfortunately, Poland’s and Lithuania’s mightiest efforts for a bold armored offensive push into Belarusian territory — which seem to mostly involve building a fence in Poland and Lithuania respectively and standing behind it — have been foiled by wily President Lukashenka. Who is, after all, a tough nut to crack.
Europe has its very own lidl North Korea.
With… what nuclear weapons?
The submitted article claims that Lukashenka made the statement:
>You must understand that if we start a war here in Belarus, NATO and Russia will intervene in it. It will be a nuclear war,” Lukashenko stressed.
in a BBC interview. Google isn’t finding me that BBC interview or anyone else covering the issue.
Also, the poor grammar on some of the other articles doesn’t leave me impressed with the site that the submitted article is on. I’d take this with a large grain of salt, pending a link to a reputable source.
Update: The *Goa Spotlight* cites Belarusian state media and [says that British media](https://thegoaspotlight.com/2021/11/21/lukashenko-threatened-the-west-with-a-nuclear-war-with-the-participation-of-nato-and-russia-rbk/) will provide coverage soon. (“The corresponding part of the interview is published by the Belarusian state agency “BelTA”, the British TV channel will publish the full version next week.”) If this is real, it’s possible that a Belarusian reader here may have seen a partial chunk of the coverage on Belarusian state media.
The closest I can find elsewhere is a week-old reference covered in a number of media outlets to Lukashenka asking that Russia move Russian nuclear-capable weapons to the area.
> Mr Lukashenko, who previously lashed out at Poland for amassing troops near the camp, in an interview released on SAT/yesterday said he had been asking Russia to deploy its newest nuclear-capable Iskander-M missiles in Belarus’ west and south, near Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine.
>
>“I’ve been pestering your president: I really need those 500 kilometre-range missile systems,” he told a Russian journalist. “Let them stay here.”
>
>The Kremlin did not immediately react to the reports, and military watchers were skeptical of the Belarusian dictator’s pleas.
>
>“It’s not in our interests to escalate the situation further right now,” Col. Gen. Yevgeny Buzhinsky, a retired senior commander at the Russian Defence Ministry, told the Interfax news agency.
>
>“If we start deploying (the missiles), then what will stop the Americans from deploying their missiles somewhere in Poland or the Baltics?”
Did he now? Aww, how quaint. I just want to fondle his prominent mustache and say “U-tyu-tyu-tyu-tyu!”
TL; DR
Bait title, fake news.
>Western countries are still indebted to Belarus for the losses suffered in World War II
Lol. But I love me some ww2 history, do go on.
Lmao, the man is nuts. With what nuclear weapons? 😂
If the fucker doesn’t want to play Metro 2033 irl then he should stand down
