The European Commission and the Republic of Moldova held today the 7th High-Level Energy Dialogue in Brussels, reaffirming their strong partnership on energy security and Moldova’s gradual integration into the European energy market. The meeting was co-chaired by EU Energy & Housing Commissioner Dan Jørgensen and Moldova’s Minister of Energy, Dorin Junghietu, with participation of the Energy Community Secretariat.
Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen said:
‘The world is facing what is arguably the most severe energy crisis in its history—one that is testing the resilience of our economies, our societies, and our partnerships. In this context, the energy partnership between the European Union and Moldova stands out as both strong and forward-looking. We share a clear and pressing interest in deepening our cooperation even further. As Moldova progresses along its path toward European Union accession, building a secure, sustainable, and independent energy system remains a central pillar of our joint efforts.’
Discussions focused on key energy priorities in the current geopolitical context, including energy security and seasonal preparedness, market reforms in electricity and gas, strategic infrastructure, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Participants reviewed Moldova’s continued progress in strengthening its energy resilience and advancing reforms linked to its EU accession path.
The European Union reaffirmed its continued political, technical and financial support for Moldova’s efforts to build a more secure, resilient and sustainable energy system and deepen its integration with Europe.
First initiated in 2021, the High-Level Energy Dialogue remains a key platform for coordinating EU-Moldova cooperation on priority energy issues.
