Malta will host the internationally recognised Food on the Edge symposium this October, marking the first time the event is being held outside Ireland.
The two-day event, set for 19th and 20th October, is organised by the Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Malta Food Agency and Heritage Malta.
Originally founded in Galway in 2015 by chef JP McMahon, the symposium has grown into a key gathering for chefs, producers and industry leaders to discuss the future of food, sustainability and gastronomy.
The announcement was made during a media event at the ME Hotel earlier this month, where organisers outlined Malta’s role as a growing hub for culinary innovation.
Guests also attended a collaborative lunch prepared by international chefs JP McMahon, Oli Marlow, Matthew Orlando and Jeffrey Vella, alongside local chef Andre Spiteri.
MTA CEO Carlo Micallef said the event forms part of efforts to position Malta as a leading destination for high-quality food experiences, while McMahon highlighted the similarities between Malta and Ireland’s food cultures.
The symposium is expected to bring global attention to Malta’s culinary scene and create new opportunities for local producers and chefs.
