A question about South Africa’s capital? _Which one_? It has three, and none of them are the country’s largest and most well known city.
And the quiz is in only one of South Africa’s multiple languages, and not even the most widely spoken of those?

Airlines have to pay the travel costs of passengers that get turned away at the border and have to travel home, so they need to make sure all their passengers have valid passports. If South African passports are more likely than usual to be fakes, then it makes sense to conduct additional checks on people with those passports.
