The new partnership aims to help the brand expand in Portugal, building on its steady growth since entering the market in 2022.

Chris Richards, managing director of Cazcabel Tequila, said: “We are really excited to be partnering with Viriathus Drinks for the next stage of the brand’s development in the Portuguese market.

“The brand has steadily grown over the past three years, and with Tiago Castro, our brand ambassador in the market, we can see firsthand the increasing interest in high-quality Tequila.

“With the positive feedback we receive in the market from bartenders for the quality of the liquid and connection to the brand’s commitment to sustainable Tequila production, through our field-to-glass control, we believe now is the perfect time to increase our efforts in Portugal, and Viriathus is the perfect partner for this.”

The collaboration will focus on expanding Cazcabel’s distribution and visibility in Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve, and the islands, starting with a presence at the Lisbon Bar Show on 19-20 May.

Under the new agreement, Cazcabel has already secured new listings, including with Royal Cocktail Club in Porto.

César Coutinho, business unit manager at Viriathus Drinks, commented: “Welcoming Cazcabel to our portfolio is a natural step for Viriathus Drinks. We see a strong opportunity in the growth of the premium Tequila category in Portugal, driven by consumers looking for authenticity, quality and brands with real identity.

“Cazcabel already has positive recognition in the market, especially within the bartending community, and we believe that with the right execution across Lisbon, Porto, the Algarve and the islands, we can significantly accelerate its presence and establish it as a leading premium Tequila reference in Portugal.”

Cazcabel Tequila is crafted by the Vazquez family at the Hacienda Cazcabel distillery, situated in San Francisco de Asís in the Highlands of Jalisco.

Earlier this year, the distillery converted its operations to 95% solar power as part of its commitment to sustainable production.
