The CommBank Socceroos will take on Switzerland in an international friendly in San Diego on June 6 (June 7 AEST), with the clash marking Australia’s final preparation match before the opening fixture of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ against Türkiye.
Set to be played at Snapdragon Stadium, the fixture provides Head Coach Tony Popovic and his squad with a valuable final opportunity to test themselves against European opposition in a match environment ahead of football’s biggest tournament.
Switzerland, who have also qualified for every FIFA World Cup™ since 2006, represents strong opposition for Australia, with both nations sharing similar World Cup qualification stories over the past two decades.
The match forms an important part of the CommBank Socceroos’ final phase of preparation, as focus sharpens on the tournament opener against Turkey and the challenges that await on the world stage.
Australia has been drawn in Group D for the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and will take on Türkiye in Vancouver (June 13), before facing World Cup co-hosts the United States in Seattle (June 19). Their final group-stage clash will be against Paraguay at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium in Santa Clara (June 25).
