Hosting Giro d’Italia is expected to have a lasting impact on Bulgarian tourism, Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva said in Burgas. According to official analyses, every third visitor who comes to Bulgaria for the sporting event is expected to return within 6 to 24 months.

“The cycling race embodies enthusiasm, passion and emotion – and tourism is all of that as well,” the minister stressed. According to her, the event is an opportunity for Bulgaria to present its Black Sea coast, mountains, history and ancient culture to an international audience and inspire visitors to return again.
Burgas welcomes Giro d’Italia teams ahead of historic race start
Irena Georgieva thanked local communities, volunteers, municipalities, partners and the central administration for their contribution to the organization of the event, as well as Bulgarian and international journalists covering the race.
She emphasized that Giro d’Italia is not merely a sporting event, but the beginning of a story through which Bulgaria will showcase the very best of itself to the world.
