Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, visited Germany on Wednesday for a working bilateral visit, where he held talks with German Foreign Minister Johannes Wadephul and senior members of the Bundestag, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs reported.
During the meetings in Berlin, Croatia and Germany reaffirmed their close and friendly partnership, highlighting strong cooperation within the European Union and NATO, as well as continued political dialogue between the two countries.
Germany was described as Croatia’s most important foreign trade partner and one of its key allies in shaping European policies.
A major focus of the talks was the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation through the signing of a Joint Declaration on Enhanced Cooperation between Croatia and Germany, accompanied by an Action Plan covering the 2026-2030 period.
The agreement sets out a framework for closer cooperation in areas including the economy, energy, security, defence and European affairs. Both sides also welcomed continued growth in economic relations, with particular emphasis on industry, digital transformation and the green transition.
The ministers also discussed current European and global issues, stressing the importance of preserving European Union unity and strengthening the bloc’s resilience and strategic autonomy.

They underlined the importance of further developing Europe’s security and defence dimension in cooperation with NATO, while also reinforcing transatlantic ties.
On southeast Europe, the two sides highlighted the importance of Croatian-German cooperation in promoting regional stability and supporting the European perspective of countries in the region.
They stressed the need for continued reforms, stronger institutions and respect for European values, while reaffirming support for EU enlargement as a strategic geopolitical priority.
The ministers exchanged views on Russia’s war in Ukraine, reiterating continued support for Ukraine and backing efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace based on international law and Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
Discussions also covered the situation in the Middle East, with both sides stressing the importance of avoiding further escalation and continuing diplomatic efforts aimed at preserving regional stability and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies in line with international law.

In the field of security and defence, Croatia and Germany highlighted growing cooperation in the development of defence capabilities and strengthening the defence industry, contributing to Europe’s wider security and defence technological base.
During his stay in Berlin, Grlić Radman also met with Armin Laschet and Anton Hofreiter.
Talks focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation, current political developments in Europe and key foreign and security policy challenges facing the European Union.

All sides confirmed the importance of close coordination between Croatia and Germany in addressing current geopolitical challenges and further deepening bilateral relations.
