Cannondale’s Moterra family of eMTB’s is, finally, coming to Canada. Both the standard and LT versions of the big eeb are making their way across the ocean, landing in stores just as the new Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit powering these rigs goes public.
Cannondale Moterra and Moterra LT
While there is a LT version, neither Moterra is particularly slight. The standard Moterra starts at 150mm rear wheel travel with a 160mm fork. If you want more, the LT version bumps that up to 165mm of coil-driven rear wheel travel and a 170mm fork. If you want more distance, Cannondale offers the Moterras with either a 600Wh or 800Wh interchangeable battery, plus the option for a frame-mounted range extender.
You might want that extra juice, as the new Bosch 2.0 update gives teh Performace Line CX a whopping 120Nm of torque. It’s still set at 750W max power, so you’ll stay clearly inside the Class 1 limits, but the added torque is intended to provide full assistance when you need it most (i.e. on the steepest or steep trails).
The Moterra comes in carbon or alloy frames, with the carbon fibre version shaving nearly 1,000g (around 2.2 lbs in freedom units) of the frame weight. All versions roll on 29″ wheels, front and rear. There are three carbon fibre builds available, including the LT, and three alloy models too. That gives the Moterra an entry price of $5,699 in Canada (USD 4,499) ranging up to the top-end Moterra Carbon 1 at $14,199 (USD 10,499).
