World Cup Group B Odds Analysis

Group B features three teams who will have real eyes on the prize of winning this group. With Switzerland, Canada, and Bosnia & Herzegovina aiming to advance to the next round. While Qatar will look to spoil the party and create chaos.

Switzerland (+100): Nati Aim To Dominate Group B

Switzerland won UEFA Group B, finishing unbeaten with four wins and two draws. The Nati have qualified for the World Cup on 12 occasions, and have participated in every tournament since 2006, giving them a real leg up on the rest of the group.

Veteran captain Granit Xhaka leads his squad to North America after a strong season in his return to England with Sunderland, as his leadership and hardnosed play were instrumental in the Blackcats squad staying in the Premier League. While Inter defender Manuel Akanji will be charged with disrupting the opposition at the back.

The Swiss have a number of stellar playmakers, but are without a true gamechanger up front. Underestimate Murat Yakin’s squad at your own peril, as they have advanced to the knockout stages of the last three World Cups and are in a great spot to do so again this year.

Canada (+210): Can Les Rouges Upset Switzerland?

Canada play in their third World Cup after automatically qualifying as hosts. Les Rouges will aim to earn their first World Cup victory on home soil after drawing a fortuitous group schedule. But, home fans will want far more from this team in a winnable Group B.

The electric pair of Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David will be Canada’s main source of disruption, with winger Tajon Buchanon and veteran midfielder Stephen Eustaquio also key players. Davies missed most of this club season with Bayern through injury, so the hope is he can return to full fitness for the World Cup tournament. While David has netted eight times for Juventus this season after moving from French club Lille last summer.

Manager Jesse Marsch helped lead Canada to the Copa America semifinals two years ago, and will use that as a building block for this squad. Having said that, a 2-2 draw with Iceland followed by a nil-nil contest with Tunisia in March have hardly inspired much confidence.

Canada will have to be at their very best to conquer the robust defenses of Switzerland and Bosnia and advance.

Bosnia & Herzegovina (+350): Golden Lillies Set to Disrupt Group B

A dramatic victory over Italy in the UEFA qualifying playoffs lifted Bosnia & Herzegovina to their second World Cup appearance.

Ageless wonder Edin Dzeko – of Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan fame – continues his memorable tromp and will be looking to but a bow on his career in North America. While PSV winger Esmir Bajraktarevic could also be a source of goals.

Competitive matches with Austria and Romania in qualifying inspire confidence for the Golden Lillies, however they did win two penalty shootouts just to reach this tournament. Often employing a 4-2-3-1 or 5-4-1 system, manager Sergej Barbarez focuses on playing tight, organized defense, and creating counter attacks. With their focus on defense, the UNDER will be a strong theme in Bosnian World Cup matches this summer.

Qatar (+2200): Can they Create Chaos at 2026 World Cup?

The Qatari make their second World Cup appearance after hosting in 2022.

They showed a ton of improvement in Asian qualifying, but lack the talent necessary to advance in this year’s tournament.

Qatar will aim to defend resolutely and pluck a goal or two on the counterattack. There’s a reason Qatar are huge underdogs to win Group B at +2200 odds. However, they can create chaos with a late goal or two to spoil the party for the rest of the group. Qatar’s main goal will be earning a point in North America after failing to do so on home soil four years ago.

World Cup Group B Best Bets

Switzerland to Win Group B (+100)

The Nati enter the 2026 World Cup after a perfect qualifying campaign and boast the most well rounded squad in Group B. They conceded only two goals in qualifiers and will be buoyed by the fact they have knocked out the giants of France, Italy and Spain in recent international tournaments.

Xhaka will spray passes to every corner of the pitch and control the tempo of matches, with Dan Ndoye of Nottingham Forest and Rennes’ Breel Embolo (8 goals in Ligue 1) pinching the goals up front.

Crucially, Murat Yakin’s squad boast the best defensive pairing in the group with Akanji and veteran Fabian Schar. With Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel expertly marshalling his defensive charges, the Swiss defense will be a tough nut to crack. From there, the speed of Switzerland’s counter attacks will make them a real threat to dominate all three Group B matches.

Switzerland lost to only footballing titans Brazil and Portugal four years ago, and have conceded more than two goals in a single match just once in the last two World Cups. Bet on the Nati to dominate Group B and win the group at a lovely plus-money price.

Argentina advanced from Group B to win the 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar. However, the 2022 iteration of this tournament was extremely unique and was played in the middle of the football season, leading to many injured players being unable to partake in the December tourney. Before that, the winner of Group B has failed to advanced past the quarterfinals, dating back to 2010.
