Eurovision is here! Delegations are now in Vienna and every semi-finalist has rehearsed once since Saturday. Today was the first day of second rehearsals, with most of the first semi-finalists rehearsing during shorter slots of 20m. The Eurovision socials accounts have been publishing the traditional second rehearsal videos, which are short extracts of the TV feed from each performance. The Eurovision website has also released new pictures for each rehearsal.
🇧🇪 Belgium – ESSYLA – Second rehearsal

Here we see the ‘fire and ice’ contrast with the split screen effect in the LED backdrop. ESSYLA looks more composed on stage and has fluidity in her movement and interactions with the dancers around her. As she goes for the money note, the camera pulls out into a wide shot focus of the laser beam that fills the stage as though ESSYLA is about to ascend with her vocal.
🇱🇹 Lithuania – Lion Ceccah – Second rehearsal

The strobe effects and camera cuts have been sharpened up a lot since the national final and that is evident to see here. Lion begins this footage in rotation spinning on the spot before the spot light shines entirely on Lion Ceccah. We zoom into close-up frame for lion’s more intimate section of the song before the scene fades to monochrome.
🇸🇲 San Marino – SENHIT – Second rehearsal

In this clip from the second rehearsal we join SENHIT and Boy George on stage in full party mode. The spirit of the song is realised in the intensity of colour. From the rainbow-themed strobe lighting effects, to the splash effects on the LED floor. Towards the end the camera pans out into a wide shot of the pyrotechnic budget San Marino has for Vienna.
🇵🇱 Poland – ALICJA – Second rehearsal

Immediately we are thrown into the action during Poland’s second rehearsal. ALICJA seems to have no trouble navigating her tilted platform and the power of the wind machine. The camera switches positions from uphill to downhill as ALICJA and her dance crew pose in various formations. As the drama builds between the white strobe lighting and the vocal gymnastics on display, a silhouette of ALICJA fades into view on the LED backdrop.
🇷🇸 Serbia – LAVINA – Second rehearsal

Serbia are rocking the arena to its foundations almost literally in their new footage from the second rehearsal! We join LAVINA as Luka’s vocal scream is felt through the shaky-cam effect. The intensity is matched with the heat of the flame pyros and orange strobe lighting. Then we take a moment to pause and recover as the camera moves in from above to show Luka on the ground looking up to the heavens, while the sword looms ominously into view as the clip ends.
