An oak alley now marks gratitude in Skive, honoring Danish support for Ukraine. Ten Ukrainian families planted trees to remember losses and to celebrate shared hope and solidarity.

In the Danish town of Skive, the Ukrainian community, together with representatives of the organization “Lastivka”, planted ten oaks in Skive’s park as a sign of gratitude for the support of the Danish authorities and the residents of Denmark.

This was announced on its Facebook page by the first Ukrainian radio station in Denmark – Radio Lastivka.

“This initiative was dedicated by the organizers to Danmarks Befrielsesdag (Day of Denmark’s Liberation) – as a sign of sincere gratitude from Denmark and the city of Skive for the support of Ukraine, solidarity and help to Ukrainians”

It is noted that ten Ukrainian families, along with children, joined in planting the trees in the park near Skive Museum.

Tree symbolism and the bond between nations

Each tree has its own symbolism: a memory of those who were lost, as well as a sign of hope, life, and the future. Part of this initiative is included in the nationwide campaign “One Million Trees of Memory and Life” (Greening of the Planet).

“This avenue in Skive is not only about trees. It is about gratitude, memory, and the strong bond between Ukraine and Denmark”

– as stated in the message

As part of the event, it is emphasized that the Ukrainian community continues to strengthen friendly relations between the two countries and to support mutual solidarity.

Also in the context of the events, another initiative is mentioned: in the German city of Würzburg, during the Festival of the Future, dedicated to Europe Day, the Ukrainian Garden of 200 square meters was opened.
