ESPN lost broadcasting rights as part of the addition to the NFL Network. The games will be divided between Netflix and YouTube, which includes the Week 1 international NFC West matchup.
This move comes from Netflix’s desire to stream big events. They have a set place in line to receive more games for this year’s season.
Netflix is now set to stream four games of the NFL 2026 season. They received the rights to stream two games on Christmas Day, which falls this year on a Friday.
They are reportedly also going to air a game on Thanksgiving Eve, which would be a first for this season.

The 2026 season will feature a total of nine international games, including Australia, Brazil, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany and England.
There will be an official schedule release this coming week on May 14.
Though this seems like the perfect situation, fans are starting to complain about the various streaming platforms they will now have to subscribe to.
“The league is expected to have a slight increase in nationally broadcast games, with the addition of the Netflix game in Australia and other potential games moving to YouTube,” according to The Atlantic.
The Australia-based match-up between the 49ers and the Rams will continue to air on local networks. However, if you are not in the local market, you are encouraged to subscribe to Netflix to stream the game.
