The hiring will mark Dotson’s return to the St. Louis region after moving to Washington, D.C., where he has served as Amtrak’s vice president of corporate security.
ST. LOUIS — Former St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson is returning to the St. Louis region to become dean of Webster University’s business school.
Webster on Friday said Dotson, who led the city police force from 2012 to 2017, will take over as dean of the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology on June 1. The hiring will mark Dotson’s return to the St. Louis region after moving to Washington, D.C., where he has served as Amtrak‘s vice president of corporate security since 2018. He returned to St. Louis last week, the university said.
Webster selected Dotson after a hiring process conducted by the Chicago-based executive search firm Wittkieffer that included interviews and feedback from faculty, staff and trustees.
“Sam is an extraordinary leader, with deep and broad skills in defining strategic direction and motivating teams toward operational objectives in some of the most complex organizations imaginable,” Webster President Tim Keane said in a news release.
