ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A man from Slovakia was sentenced Thursday in federal court after he admitted to conspiracy to sell drugs and assisting in maintaining a darknet site.
Alan Bill, 33, of Bratislava, Slovakia, was sentenced to 200 months in prison by Eastern District of Missouri Judge Christian M. Stevens. Bill had previously pleaded guilty in January to one count of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances.
As part of his plea, U.S. prosecutors say Bill admitted to assisting in maintaining and operating a darknet website named Kingdom by providing web-administration services.
Bill also admitted in his plea to receiving cryptocurrency associated with Kingdom, helped create the site’s forum pages on Reddit and Dread and made posts on behalf of Kingdom on social media websites.
“Alan Bill helped run a darknet market that sold stolen identity and financial information, counterfeit currency and illegal drugs, including bogus prescription drugs containing fentanyl,” U.S. Attorney Thomas C. Albus said. “This sentence should send a message that serious crimes will be punished harshly, no matter where they occur or how hidden they appear to be.”
Prosecutors say Bill was arrested in December 2023 at Newark Liberty International Airport. At the time, he was in possession of electronic devices that contained evidence of his ties to Kingdom. Before the arrest, undercover federal investigators had bought fentanyl, meth and a U.S. passport from Kingdom. Those items were shipped to the Eastern District of Missouri.
“It’s hard to even imagine the amount of misery that the defendant’s actions have caused,” Judge Stevens said after announcing Bill’s sentence.
