Here are Friday’s updates from the U.S.-Iran cease-fire and Israel’s war with Hezbollah:

■ Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said Tehran is still weighing its response to U.S. cease-fire proposals, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

■ The U.S. State Department said Washington will facilitate two days of “intensive talks” between Israeli and Lebanese government representatives on May 14–15, aimed at establishing a framework for long-term arrangements including border demarcation, security coordination, humanitarian aid flows and Lebanese sovereignty. U.S. officials also indicated that any broader peace framework would be contingent on Hezbollah’s disarmament.

■ U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington would respond to any missile fire targeting U.S. forces, stressed that the U.S. will not negotiate with Hezbollah, and reiterated that diplomatic engagement will focus on Lebanon’s government.

■ Lebanon’s Health Ministry said 32 people were killed in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 2,759, amid continued Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon and ongoing Hezbollah rocket fire toward northern Israel. Israeli Air Force jets struck a launcher used in a Hezbollah rocket attack, the IDF said, while cross-border exchanges continued despite the cease-fire framework.

■ U.S. forces carried out additional strikes on oil tankers attempting to break an expanding blockade on Iranian ports, according to a U.S. official cited by Fox News. The strikes come amid intensified efforts to restrict Iranian oil exports and prevent the use of empty tankers as floating storage. Iranian reports said at least one crew member was killed and several others were missing and wounded after a commercial ship incident near the Strait of Hormuz that Tehran attributed to a U.S. attack, according to The Wall Street Journal.

■ Satellite imagery reviewed by The New York Times shows a large oil slick near Iran’s Kharg Island export terminal, raising concerns over strain on Iranian energy infrastructure amid disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and pressure on storage capacity.

■ A Gaza-bound aid flotilla said its remaining vessels are regrouping in the Turkish port of Marmaris after Israel intercepted more than 20 boats last week during an attempt to breach the maritime blockade of Gaza.

■ Chile’s president said he will return the country’s ambassador to Israel, reversing a withdrawal made in 2023, and discussed restoring bilateral relations during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
