LISBON, OH- Lisbon didn’t just win Thursday—they put on a full-on offensive clinic.

Behind a monster day from Ashton Hinchliffe and a lineup that just wouldn’t quit, the Blue Devils rolled past Wellsville 21-1 in a game that was essentially decided before the middle innings.

Hinchliffe was the engine driving everything. The leadoff sparkplug went a perfect 4-for-4, finishing a triple shy of the cycle and racking up seven total bases. He set the tone early and never let up, constantly putting pressure on Wellsville from the jump.

And that pressure showed immediately.

Lisbon exploded out of the gates in the first inning, stringing together hit after hit. Hinchliffe started it with an RBI knock, Logan Sturgeon followed with a two-run single, and the Blue Devils kept cashing in with productive outs and timely hits to build a quick cushion.

Then came the second—and things really got out of hand.

Taking advantage of a couple miscues and staying aggressive at the plate, Lisbon poured it on with another big inning. Devin Kelly, Aiden Myers, Mason Jones, and Hinchliffe all delivered run-producing swings, with Hinchliffe capping it with a triple that cleared the bases.

By the third, it was a runaway.

The Blue Devils tacked on five more runs, highlighted by RBIs from Paxton Henthorne, Bryce Esarey, and Jones, while also working walks with the bases loaded to keep the line moving. It was relentless—no easy outs, no breaks.

On the mound, Esarey set the tone with three dominant innings, allowing just one hit and no earned runs while striking out seven. Sturgeon followed with two clean frames, fanning five and shutting the door completely.

At the plate, it wasn’t just one guy—it was everybody.

Lisbon piled up 18 hits and 10 walks, with Sturgeon and Henthorne each driving in four runs. Esarey, Kelly, Jones, and Brady Carpenter all had multi-hit efforts, while Carpenter also worked three walks to keep innings alive.

The Blue Devils also stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping four bags, with Esarey leading the charge.

Wellsville had limited chances, with Vance collecting their lone hit and Douglas swiping a pair of bases, but the early avalanche was just too much to overcome.

Bottom line: when you combine patience at the plate, constant pressure, and a red-hot bat like Hinchliffe’s, it’s going to be a long day for the other side.

Lisbon hits the road Monday for a matchup with Columbiana.
