A Boutique with Community in Mind

Hudson City Kids’ primary goal is to make shopping as a parent an experience with intent and community in mind. Opened by a local mom, the boutique combines children’s retail with educational opportunities and support for those navigating the chaos of parenthood. The space is welcoming and accessible, with parents encouraged to bring strollers inside via the storefront ramp and leisurely explore the space. Visitors will also find toys throughout the space to keep toddlers occupied while parents browse, chat, or settle in for a class. (HG pro tip: show your kids the Magnatile Wall…it’s a huge hit) The store also provides a baby-friendly experience with a ready-to-go playmat for some spur-of-the-moment tummy time, a stocked bathroom with a changing table, extra diapers, wipes, and a diaper pail for emergencies.

Hudson City Kids curates clothing and accessories ranging from newborn through six years of age. They have everything from colorful international brands to local Jersey City brands like Looted Snacks, Meerahi, and Muyu NY (also created by mothers) scattered about the boutique.

Amber, a mom from The Hoboken Girl team, visited with her son and shares her experience: “We loved the colorful styles and outfits on display (and there are reasonable price points for everybody!) Still, the Hudson City Kids team shared that it does not want to be viewed as just another children’s boutique. “[It’s] a community-centered retail experience; a place where parents come not only to purchase great products, but to learn, connect, and spend time.”

Hudson City Kids’ mission is also supported by its growing calendar of classes and parent meetups. It currently hosts a variety of support groups, developmental classes, and educational sessions made for both new and expecting parents. Here are some of the upcoming programs we got the scoop on:

The Station Hoboken

Mom Rage Understood: A 90-minute group workshop (led by Stephanie Arrington of Heights Psychotherapy) designed to provide a judgment-free space to understand and process a little-discussed experience of motherhood.
Tiny Moves (so cute): A play-based class made for babies aged 1 to 6 months.
On the Move (for when they start moving about!): A play-based class for babies and their parents, designed for those aged 7 to 12 months.
Milk Mafia (exactly what you think this would be): A breastfeeding support group that features mini consults, flange fittings, and guidance from Dr. Andrea Flores, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
Starting Solids group classes: Hosted by Hoboken-based Speech and Feeding, Jessica Aleman (MSEd, CCC-SLP), to help parents weed out the online noise and guidance and create a plan to begin solids in a way that is comfortable for them.

We recommend checking out Hudson City Kids’ programs if you are seeking support, guidance, or hands-on activities as a parent. It wants to encourage a positive environment for growth, where kids can make noise, have fun, and be themselves. It’s truly a community-centered spot with parents and their kids in mind.
