The Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita on Friday attended the swearing-in ceremony of Laura Fernández Delgado as the 50th President of Costa Rica. The event was held at the National Stadium in capital San Jose. Delgado was sworn in for a period of a four-year term.
The Union Minister also conveyed a formal message of felicitation from President Droupadi Murmu, along with warm greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India.
Margherita, who is currently on a diplomatic tour of Central America and the Caribbean, was accompanied by heads of state, Prime Ministers, and senior representatives from across the world. The tour aims at strengthening the bilateral ties with other countries.
In the multi-nation diplomatic tour, Margherita is set to travel to Honduras next, followed by Belize on the Caribbean coast and then Dominica. The tour holds significant value as it aims to strengthen India’s diplomatic and economic engagement with partner nations, expand cooperation in trade, investment, and development, and reinforce India’s outreach in the Latin American and Caribbean regions.
