The Libyan Red Crescent announced on Saturday the rescue of 45 migrants of various nationalities from a boat attempting irregular migration off the coast of Tobruk.

The migrants had been subjected to difficult conditions during their sea voyage, according to the Red Crescent

In a post on its Facebook page, the Red Crescent explained that its Tobruk branch received a report from the coast guard indicating that the migrants were in a critical condition, exhausted by the sea, fear, and hunger, following a perilous journey that nearly resulted in another humanitarian disaster.

The post added that Red Crescent teams immediately responded to the report and rescued the migrants, providing them with humanitarian aid, first aid, and necessary care.

The Libyan Red Crescent noted that the rescue operation was part of a partnership project with the UNHCR, within the framework of humanitarian efforts aimed at supporting and rescuing migrants and refugees at sea.
