A man has been charged after assaulting a police officer in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The assault happened in Dawesville about 4am when police responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Aldersyde Centre.
Several people were causing a disturbance when police arrived at the scene.
While police were at the scene, a 25-year-old man allegedly punched an officer in the face.
The officer was taken to Peel Health Campus by St John WA. He has since been released.
The man was arrested and charged with one count of assaulting a public officer.
He is due to appear before Mandurah Magistrates Court on June 5.
