An Iranian parliamentary spokesperson said Sunday that Tehran’s “restraint is over,” warning that any attack on Iranian vessels would bring a “heavy and decisive” response against U.S. vessels and bases.

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for Iran’s parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Committee, made the remarks in a post on X as tensions continued to escalate between Iran and the United States.

“As of today, our restraint is over. Any attack on our vessels will be met with a heavy and decisive Iranian response against U.S. vessels and bases,” Rezaei said.

Rezaei warns US over regional tensions

“The clock is ticking against the Americans’ interests,” Rezaei said.

“The best course for the U.S. is to surrender and make concessions,” he said. “They must adapt to the new regional order.”

His comments came as regional tensions remained high following U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran on Feb. 28.

The strikes triggered retaliation from Tehran against Israel and U.S. allies in the Gulf, as well as the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Ceasefire extended after Islamabad talks

A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation.

However, talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement.

The truce was later extended by U.S. President Donald Trump without a set deadline, opening the way for diplomacy toward a permanent solution to the war.

Rezaei’s warning came amid the continued escalation between Tehran and Washington over attacks on vessels, U.S. bases, and maritime activity in the region.
