Two Indian crew members aboard the Dutch-flagged cruise ship MV Hondius are healthy and asymptomatic after a hantavirus scare prompted the vessel to anchor near the Canary Islands, according to the Indian Embassy in Madrid. The ship, carrying around 150 people, arrived in Spain under international health monitoring linked to a reported hantavirus outbreak, though passengers were later allowed to disembark following WHO and Spanish health protocols. The two Indian nationals have since been evacuated to the Netherlands for quarantine and monitoring, while Indian authorities continue coordinating with Spanish officials. Hantavirus, a rare rodent-borne disease that can cause severe respiratory illness, has drawn global attention, though experts say there is currently no immediate public health concern for India.
