The Moroccan national polo team claimed the title of the sixth edition of the Mohammed VI International Polo Cup after defeating the United States 9-5 in the final held on Sunday at the Royal Guard Polo Club.

Morocco controlled the match from the opening moments and imposed its rhythm throughout the encounter. The national team made the difference during key moments and maintained its dominance across all three periods of play.

The Moroccan side finished the first period with a 3-1 lead before extending the advantage to 5-2 in the second. The hosts continued their strong performance in the third period, leading 8-3, before sealing a convincing 9-5 victory over the American team.

The title crowned an impressive campaign for Morocco, which opened the tournament with a win over Hungary before defeating Portugal in the following round. Portugal later secured third place after overcoming France in the classification match.

The triumph to Morocco 

Speaking to the press after the final, Moroccan polo player Sidi Mohammed Al Mohammadi expressed his happiness with the triumph while praising the quality and competitiveness of the American side.

He also noted that the match reflected the strong relationship between Morocco and the United States, both on and off the sporting stage.

At the end of the competition, Moulay Abdallah Alaoui, president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Equestrian Sports, presented the trophy to the captain of the Moroccan national team.

The attendees 

The final was attended by several prominent figures, including Abdelaziz Chatir, Commander of the Royal Guard and president of the Royal Moroccan Polo Federation, as well as Mohamed Yacoubi, governor of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.

Organized by the Royal Moroccan Polo Federation under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the international tournament brought together six national teams, including Morocco, the United States, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Portugal and France.

The Mohammed VI International Polo Cup has become one of the leading polo tournaments in the region, offering teams the opportunity to compete against internationally recognized polo schools while giving fans a week filled with high-level competition, passion and sporting excellence.
