Thanks so much for making our Spring ceilidh such a big success! It was everything we hoped it would be – a night of joy, solidarity and some seriously good dancing.
The evening was joyful, loud, full of laughter, and powered by a community that shows up time and time again for refugees and people seeking asylum in Scotland. Thanks to everyone who came along, danced their socks off, and supported the work we do. Together, you helped raise an incredible £8,694.
We were lucky enough to be hosted by the University of Glasgow, whose generosity gave us the perfect space for an evening of music and connection – the beautiful Bute Hall.
The Big Stupit Ceilidh Band kept the room buzzing from the first chord to the last, guiding dancers of all abilities with the kind of energy that makes it impossible to stay in your seat.
Our brilliant compère, comedian and presenter Mark Nelson kept the whole night rolling with warmth, razor‑sharp wit and a steady stream of hilarious commentary.
A huge thank you also goes to Unite the Union for sponsoring the event and standing in solidarity with people seeking safety. Their support helps make nights like this possible and strengthens the message that Scotland can be a welcoming, inclusive place for everyone who arrives here.
But most of all, we want to thank everyone who turned up, brought friends, bought tickets and filled the hall with a sense of community that felt genuinely uplifting. In a world that can feel heavy, evenings like this remind us why coming together matters. They show that hope is still very much alive, and that compassion is something we build collectively.
The funds raised will help us continue supporting refugees and people seeking asylum across Scotland – offering advice, advocacy, and a friendly face at moments when it’s needed most.
