Platinum jubilee: The reason we’ve been given four days off for the jubilee has nothing to do with the Queen

  1. The flag fetish they have been trying to shove down our throats since Brexit has been really cringy, I don’t mind a Union Jack but it’s not required on literally EVERYTHING

  2. Lol, a lot of us did not get four days off. Bank Holidays just mean it’s even busier for retail and hospitality.

  3. “Call me a killjoy, but I am anything but inspired by the jubilee spirit. In fact, the red, white and blue mania that has swept the nation has me feeling a little sick to my stomach.”

“Sick to the stomach”! Says it all about the author.

  4. Well I got the full four days and have been happily flag waving and enjoying the celebration. I’m sorry for those who feel disenfranchised from this but you probably need to have a look at yourselves, for those that had to work I thank you for your time and keeping things running for the rest of us.

  5. In Azores … Friday was a half-day, Spirito Santo this weekend (all shops closed), Monday off, Tuesday off for many or a half day.

    No jubilee required.:)

  6. The Independent and Guardian hate Britain.

    They support Labour.

Tells you all you need to know

  7. This was all planned long before though. We could not have predicted the cost of living crisis or Partygate sending the country into the state it is now in, same for COVID and the war in Ukraine. It’s a great distraction for the government to usurp for their own means but this was not planned by the royal family as to be a distraction.

  8. As a uni student ive had no day off been studying non stop throughout it while all but the 1, 24/7 study building remains open.
