As the article says, this is the second death already this year.
I know its iconic and everything but really, how is this allowed to happen in 2022.
If formula 1 had this many deaths per miles driven it would be banned.
Roman spectacles for the c21st
Just awful.
Hope the driver doesn’t blame himself for it, it must take so much trust to do sidecar racing.
There’s a death every year. It’s a dangerous dangerous race.
It has to be understood by outsiders looking in, that this is why people race the TT. Most of these guys are not in it for the money, there isn’t any. They do it because it’s so dangerous.
If this event was boxing or MMA the press would be calling for it to be banned much louder.
Such a sad waste of human life.
Reading the comments here is a real split. Personally I watch the TT because it’s risky, it’s fast, it’s exciting. I don’t want them to ban it and i’m sure the chaps riding don’t want it banned either. If you ban the TT there’s also a bunch of other road races you’ll need to ban too like the northwest. If a spectator dies things may change but that’s about the only scenario I can think of where there might be public pressure.
At the end of the day though, we lose thousands to war, cancer, road accidents, work accidents…..millions to a virus. If men and women want to risk it all on a motorbike race then I say let them.
Riders know the risk when competing and racing at the TT. People who are saying ‘waste of a life’ ‘should be banned’ need to understand this. They wouldn’t partake if it was safe and risk-free. RIP anyway!
