The International Union of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM) has allowed athletes and teams from Belarus to once again compete under the national flag, in their national team uniform, and to the national anthem.
This is stated on the official website of the organization.
Previously, Belarusian athletes participated in the competition only as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN). This format has been in effect since March 2023 following recommendations from the International Olympic Committee.
However, on May 7, 2026, the IOC recommended that all remaining restrictions on Belarusian athletes and teams in world sports be lifted.
After that, the UIPM Executive Committee decided to lift the restrictions for Belarus.
The new rules come into effect immediately for all future UIPM tournaments, except for the upcoming World Cup in Pazardzhik, Bulgaria.
Starting with the World Cup in Budapest, which will be held on June 9-13, Belarusian athletes will be able to perform as full representatives of their country.
Belarus will also receive the right to compete for team medals and participate in relays at the world championships in all age categories.
For Russian athletes, the neutral status system remains in effect for now.
