The United States has announced $8 million in new cybersecurity assistance for Moldova, aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to detect and respond to digital threats over the next four years.
The announcement was made by Chargé d’Affaires Nick Pietrowicz at the Moldova Cybersecurity Forum, according to a statement posted by the U.S. Embassy in Moldova on Facebook, Caliber.Az reports.
The embassy said the initiative is intended to enhance both national and regional security by improving Moldova’s capacity to counter cyber threats that could affect global stability.
“This #AmericaFirst partnership makes both Americans and Moldovans safer by helping Moldova detect and respond to cyber threats which impact regional and global stability,” the embassy said.
The program will include cybersecurity training, threat assessments, provision of technical tools and equipment, and support for protecting critical infrastructure.
