Luís Montenegro was speaking after an “extremely productive meeting” with the mayors of Lisbon and Porto, Carlos Moeda and Pedro Duarte, during which he stated that the issue of security “has been a dominant subject” in his conversations with them.
There will also be reinforcement of patrolling by the PSP intervention corps in these two cities, especially in areas of “greater involvement” from a criminal perspective.
Montenegro also stated that a “reorganisation of services provided” at the PSP police stations in Porto, Lisbon and Setúbal is being prepared to free up about 500 officers for “patrolling duties”.
