LISBON — Lisbon Village Council members met Tuesday and honored a local woman for her actions during a two-vehicle crash and fire late last month.
Mayor Peter Wilson and the council presented MacKenzie Lewis with a proclamation for bravery and selflessness. On April 27, Lewis pulled a woman from a burning car following an accident at the intersection of South Lincoln Avenue and West Lincoln Way.
The woman Lewis saved, Melissa Ieropoli, attended the meeting to express her gratitude.
According to a Lisbon Police Department report, the crash occurred at 4:57 p.m. when 51-year-old Michael Stouffer of Salem attempted to make a left turn. Stouffer’s Ford pulled into the path of Ieropoli’s Toyota Highlander.
The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Ieropoli was the only person in her vehicle at the time of the collision. North Star EMS transported Ieropoli from the scene for minor injuries. Stouffer and his passenger, 38-year-old John Hamilton, did not report any injuries.
Police cited Stouffer for a right-of-way violation at an intersection.
