Mariel Hemingway will visit Asturias on May 14 and 15 at the invitation of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation, chaired by Dr. María Díaz de la Cebosa, as part of an initiative that seeks to place mental health at the center of public discourse from a human, serene perspective deeply connected to holistic well-being.
Internationally recognized for her work as a writer, activist, and actress, Mariel Hemingway has in recent years developed her own voice on emotional well-being, listening to the body, and the importance of reconnecting with nature as an essential part of personal balance. Her visit to Asturias will offer a unique opportunity to share these insights with civil society, the educational sector, and the institutional community.
The granddaughter of writer Ernest Hemingway, Mariel rose to prominence at a very young age in the international film industry, establishing a career marked by personality, sensitivity, and public exposure. However, beyond her artistic dimension, her personal evolution has made her a figure committed to raising awareness about mental health, transforming her own life experience into a message of support, understanding, and hope for many people.

The visit has been organized by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation as part of its commitment to defending human dignity and fostering spaces for dialogue on major contemporary challenges. In this context, mental health is addressed not only as an individual issue but also as a collective challenge that calls upon institutions, the educational community, and society as a whole.
The main event will take place on Thursday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m., as part of the RSG Business Club (Real Sporting’s business club) in Gijón. The agenda will include an institutional welcome, remarks by Dr. María Díaz de la Cebosa, a presentation by Mariel Hemingway, a subsequent conversation with various participants, and a closing cocktail reception. This event is designed to foster open reflection on how to live with greater awareness, calm, and connection in a time marked by acceleration, pressure, and emotional disconnection.
The program will continue on Friday, May 15, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a meeting at RIES Jovellanos with middle and high school students. This second event will reinforce the educational and transformative nature of the visit, bringing young people into a particularly necessary conversation about mental health care, self-esteem, emotional management, and the importance of asking for help and creating supportive environments.

I would like to especially thank Real Sporting de Gijón for their hospitality and willingness to host this event, and Mariel for her warmth, humanity, and commitment to a cause that concerns us all today,” said Dr. María Díaz de la Cebosa, president of the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation.

Kennedy Human Rights Spain Foundation reaffirms its commitment to promoting initiatives that help raise awareness, foster emotional education, and build bridges between inspiring voices, institutions, and new generations.
