Two German soldiers serving at NATO command in Brunssum, the Netherlands, were attacked by unidentified individuals, with both soldiers sustaining minor injuries and remaining in satisfactory condition, Germany’s Defence Ministry has stated.

The servicemen were subjected to both verbal and physical assaults, Caliber.Az reports, citing German media.

The incident has been classified as a “security-related situation.”

The motives behind the attack remain under investigation.

Dutch military police have been involved in the inquiry, and investigators are also examining reports of possible anti-NATO slogans and the participation of masked individuals.

The NATO command in Brunssum serves as an operational headquarters of the Alliance and is responsible for planning defence operations across a significant part of Central Europe.
