BW LNG
BW LNG is surfacing as the buyer behind a fresh order for two large LNG carriers at HD Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea.
The gas shipping arm of Singapore-based BW Group has been linked by market sources to a pair of 174,000 cu m newbuildings scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2029.
Parent company HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering disclosed the contract on Wednesday, saying only that it had secured an order from a North America-based client.
The deal was valued at KRW748.5bn ($508m), working out at roughly $254m per vessel.
The latest move would further expand BW LNG’s already sizeable presence in the LNG shipping sector and effectively doubles a previous order linked to the company late last year.
In November 2025, BW LNG was also tied to an order at the same yard under similar disclosure language from HD KSOE, leading brokers to conclude the latest contract forms part of a broader four-ship programme.
BW LNG currently controls a fleet of more than 30 LNG carriers and floating storage and regasification units.
The company has continued to build up its modern LNG fleet in recent years, including taking delivery of two LNG carrier newbuildings from Hanwha Ocean that were originally ordered in 2022.
