Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s fall from grace has already included lost titles, exile from his Crown Estate mansion and a stunning arrest.
Now a new allegation has added an animal cruelty claim to the disgraced ex-royal’s growing list of troubles.
The former Duke of York has been accused of kicking his Labrador retriever in the head during a pheasant shoot at the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham estate.
The anecdote appears in the upcoming paperback edition of author Andrew Lownie’s 2025 book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which comes out May 21 and includes “a 10,000 word update” with “explosive new revelations about the York family,” the author shared on X.
The alleged incident unfolded after a friend of the royal family joined Mountbatten-Windsor and other guests for the shoot. The group was taking a break when the dog did something mischievous.
“Mid-morning, everyone gathered for hot soup and sausage rolls. The guest was standing next to Andrew, who had his Labrador by his side. Suddenly, the dog leapt and snatched the guest’s sausage roll from his hand, causing him to laugh,” Lownie writes, as reported by Britain’s Daily Express.
The author alleges that Andrew then “kicked the dog in the head, leaving her whimpering on the ground.”
A stunning confrontation
Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip reportedly sided with a Sandringham guest who confronted Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor over his treatment of his dog. By: MEGA
The guest was horrified by what he’d just witnessed and confronted Mountbatten-Windsor on the spot. According to the book, the guest told him, “That is the most disgusting thing that you have just done to your beautiful dog. You should be ashamed of yourself!”
Lownie claims the royal shot back, “F*** off. It is none of your business and I will do precisely what I want to my dogs.”
Others in the shooting party quietly backed the guest. “Over Andrew’s shoulder, the guest saw several members of the party giving him thumbs-up in appreciation of what he’d said,” the author writes.
“That evening, Prince Philip came up to him and said, ‘What you said to my son today was absolutely right and Her Majesty and I fully agree with what you said. Andrew needs a good scolding from time to time.'”
The claim comes months after King Charles III stripped his brother of his royal titles and pushed him out of his longtime home, Royal Lodge, as the monarchy moved to distance itself from renewed scrutiny of Mountbatten-Windsor’s ties to predator Jeffrey Epstein.
In February, the disgraced former duke was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice released emails suggesting he passed sensitive government documents to Epstein while serving as Britain’s trade envoy.
More bad behavior
The dog-kicking allegation isn’t the only recently revealed story that paints Mountbatten-Windsor’s past behavior in a disturbing light.
Author Tom Bower, who wrote the 2026 book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, discussed another incident involving the ex-royal in an April interview on the “Daily Expresso” podcast where he also discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
“In my book, I’ve got a story which hasn’t been picked up, but I think it’s actually indicative of Andrew. He was in Warsaw as a trade representative and was addressing a bunch of British businessmen at a large lunch,” Bower explained.
“And the deputy ambassador came in to tell him that he was urgently wanted on the phone. Now, the deputy ambassador had a club foot, which was very noticeable. He had a huge physical deformity.”
Bower claimed Mountbatten-Windsor reacted with cruelty.
“Andrew screamed across the room at him, ‘What the f*** are you, cripple, doing coming to interrupt me?’ I mean, that was unbelievable. And that was the way that Andrew behaved,” Bower said, calling the late queen’s second son “a really shocking, shocking, selfish, stupid man.”
