Activists cleared Blue Lagoon. I’ve never seen this stretch of cement so clear from umbrellas and deck chairs. It was a good move but these will probably be there tomorrow.

I don’t like activism but this one is not only worth it but also necessary. Many beaches and places around the world are ruined like that.
Whilst that’s good news, what about tomorrow? Or next week? Or next month?
We can’t depend on activists alone to do this, we need enforcement from the Authorities.
Good for the Moviment Graffiti to do this but the Government is quiet on this issue/area
Successive governments failed us, the Maltese, by letting any greedy a$$hole to setup shop without any regulations and with ZERO enforcement. It’s about time we start standing up to the abuse!
So at least there’s one group of people who don’t mind standing up and doing something!
The same can/should be done at all the other beaches where you can’t even see the sand anymore thanks to umbrellas and deck hairs. Not to say anything about the ever encroaching restaurant and bar tables all over pavements…..
Saw the news this morning… was overwhelmed with joy and a sense of pride that “enough pressure was done so that the authorities had acted” – only to realize a few hours later that this was the act of an NGO…
The joy is now changed to anger as it took common people like you and me to do a government/official job… difference is we can do it for a day… as many said, tomorrow it will be fked again… unless the gov starts serving us, as it should, instead of their pockets…
Was really glad reading about their action too. However, when I go there myself and remove the deck chairs just as an individual, not as a large group, will they let me be or harass me for having done that? Although legally they shouldn’t be allowed to say anything, not sure if you can do this as an individual? Did anyone try this yet?
