The Croatian National Bank (HNB) will release a commemorative €2 coin on 16 July 2026 to mark 100 years of Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT), Croatia’s national public broadcaster.
Public exchange of the special edition coin will begin on 20 July 2026.
The national side of the coin features radio waves arranged in five rows, symbolising the launch of Radio Zagreb, which was first broadcast on 15 May 1926 at 20:30 on a medium-wave frequency of 350 metres.
That moment is considered the beginning of what is today HRT, the legal successor of Radio Zagreb and Croatia’s central national media institution with significant cultural and social importance.
A total of 200,000 coins will be issued, with 190,000 available for public exchange.
The design of the coin was created by academic sculptor Karlo Gross, while minting was carried out by the Croatian Mint.

As the commemorative €2 coin also has the status of legal tender, citizens will be able to obtain it at face value for €2, without additional exchange fees in most cases.
Citizens interested in obtaining the coin can register through the HNB commemorative coin reservation system between 18 May and 18 June 2026, or until available quantities are exhausted.
Applicants will be able to reserve up to five coins per person.
From 20 July 2026, reserved coins can be collected in person at the HNB cash office in Zagreb, delivered by post within Croatia for an additional postal fee, or collected through branches of the Financial Agency (FINA), where service charges will apply according to FINA’s price list.
The commemorative €2 coin in special blister packaging and proof quality will also be available for purchase through the HNB online shop in August 2026.
