Joe Rogan decided to verify the claims made by Elon Musk regarding the ‘bulletproof’ durability of the Tesla Cybertruck.
Back when the Cybertruck was first unveiled in 2019, Musk immediately made a point of telling everyone that the Cybertruck was basically bulletproof.
We all remember the botched (or staged) attempt to demonstrate that during the same event.
But Joe Rogan went one step further.
Is the Cybertruck really bulletproof?
The Tesla Cybertruck was first teased during an event in 2019, and one of the first things Elon Musk said about it was that it was bulletproof.
The billionaire CEO of Tesla also said the windows were also impossible to damage.
During the event, Tesla head designer Franz von Holzhausen threw a large steel ball at the window and even though the ball didn’t shatter the glass, it did crack it.
During an episode of the Joe Rogan podcast, the host decided to verify whether Musk’s claim was accurate, by betting $1 that he could pierce the Cybertruck’s body panels with an arrow.
Musk and Rogan make a wager
Elon Musk has appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast several times.
Back when the Cybertruck was launched, Joe Rogan invited Musk to the podcast to talk about the truck, and the conversation soon progressed onto the Cybertruck being bulletproof.
Musk said the truck’s steel panels are bulletproof, and there’s an option for people to upgrade to bulletproof glass as well.
He also talked about the panels having been tested using a Tommy gun, a 45-millimeter gun and a 9-millimeter gun, at which point Rogan challenged CEO Musk.
He suggested that penetrating the Tesla Cybertruck’s seemingly tough exterior with a broadhead arrow would be doable.
“Can I try it with an arrow?” Rogan asked.
“Yeah, it’ll be fine. Maybe I’ll drive back with an arrow sticking out of my car,” Musk replied.
When Rogan bet that he could ‘get it in there’, the billionaire bet him a dollar that it wouldn’t penetrate.
The result
Rather than piercing its side, the arrow only caused a small dent.
But the arrowhead, on the other hand, was completely destroyed.
“The door panels are bulletproof to almost all subsonic projectiles,” Musk gloated, before walking home with an extra dollar in his pocket.
With a net worth that’s dangerously close to one trillion dollars, ‘every little helps’, as they say.
