ROME, N.Y. — The Rome Chamber of Commerce gathered for its 140th annual meeting at The Beeches.
The event took place in the morning and recognized five area businesses for their impact on the Greater Rome community. The businesses honored were Strategic, Ace Hardware, the Center for Family Life Recovery, ROI Furniture and Fort Stanwix.
Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan served as the guest speaker and discussed developments happening in the Rome community.
Bruce Hairston, executive director of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, said, “Chobani, there’s some other things going on at Griffiss Park. He’s also doing some changes; they’re opening up some streets in the area and put some sidewalks in to make it easier walkable to downtown Erie Boulevard down there across from the old Denny’s. So, there’s a lot going on in the City of Rome, and a lot of small businesses are popping up too.”
The annual meeting provides an opportunity for chamber businesses to network and promote business growth in the area.
