The husband of Prince Harry’s former girlfriend, Cressida Bonas, has spoken of the “honour” of welcoming Prince William when he officially opened a suicide prevention centre earlier this week.
The Prince of Wales travelled to Birmingham on Monday to launch James’ Place Birmingham, a specialist centre dedicated to supporting men in suicidal crisis.
The facility, which opened for referrals this week, is expected to help around 500 men each year.
Prince William, 43, posed for photographs with Harry Wentworth-Stanley during his Birmingham visit.
Mr Wentworth-Stanley is the brother of the charity’s late namesake.
He is married to Cressida Bonas, who previously dated Prince Harry between 2012 and 2014.
Mr Wentworth-Stanley shared photographs from the visit on social media today, describing it as “a huge honour” to welcome the Prince of Wales to officially open the centre.
“We are so grateful for his ongoing support,” he wrote on Instagram.

James’ Place was founded by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley after the death of their son James, who took his own life in 2006.
The charity now operates centres in London, Liverpool, Newcastle and Birmingham, offering free, life-saving therapy to men in crisis.
William, who has spoken openly about the importance of tackling mental health stigma, toured the new centre and spent time with staff and partner organisations involved in the project.
Mr Wentworth-Stanley, who works as a real estate investment director, has played a major role in the development of James’ Place since its founding.

In 2015, he and three friends rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, travelling from the Canary Islands to Antigua and raising £650,000 to support the charity’s early work.
Speaking during the visit, William praised the team behind the organisation and called for more centres across the country.
“The team here are fantastic,” the prince said.
“I hope we can get more of you around the UK, because it is in need of it sadly.”

He also stressed the importance of speaking more openly about suicide prevention and ensuring people receive support before reaching crisis point.
Mr Wentworth-Stanley is due to begin a 400-mile fundraising challenge later this month, connecting the charity’s centres across Britain as he aims to raise £100,000 for James’ Place.
