Goliad shutout 3-0 against London in Game 1

The Goliad Tigers lost 3-0 in Wednesday’s Game 1 against the London Pirates in the regional semifinal round of the UIL 3A D1 Texas Baseball Playoffs. The game was played at Gregory-Portland High.
Goliad managed just one hit in the shutout loss. Starting pitcher Barrett Irwin suffered the defeat. He lasted six innings and allowed one earned run on seven hits. London’s Dax Williams was the winning pitcher. He tossed a complete game shutout and logged four strikeouts against two walks.
Shortstop Aiden Salinas went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored, and a stolen base for London. The Pirates totaled eight hits in the victory.
Goliad will face elimination in Game 2 of the series Thursday night. Results will be available in the next edition.
