Is there any room left on the Sochan hype train? Know it’s close to capacity and tickets are going fast. But I need one. Entering the year, most ost of us thought the upcoming 2022 draft was top-heavy. Some even thought it could be the worst draft in recent memory. As usual. Things change, players develop and the next crop of NBAers enthralls us all of a sudden. Frankly, the 2022 class is deep and loaded with high-floor guys who offer positional flexibility. Exhibit A: Sochan, a 6-foot-9 defensive chess piece with a 7-foot wingspan and motor/flare comparable to a young Dennis Rodman. At this stage, Sochan is as raw offensively as Rodman was coming out of college — don’t let Rodman’s NAIA averages fool you. But like “Worm,” Sochan’s production on that end comes from a blue-collar effort on the glass. Here’s the kicker. There’s a budding jumper in the Baylor baller’s backpack (wait til his mechanics get a little refinement), and he has the court vision of a solid oversized playmaker.
