Creatives invited to show their work for Refugee Week Greece

Refugee Week Greece has launched an open call for entries for its 2026 art festival, inviting refugee, migrant and diaspora artists to submit projects exploring the theme of “Courage.”

The annual grassroots arts and culture initiative, founded in 2021, celebrates the creativity and contributions of refugees and migrants in Greece while promoting diversity and social inclusion through exhibitions, performances and community events.

Organizers said this year’s theme draws from the Latin word “cor,” meaning heart, and aims to highlight both the extraordinary and everyday forms of courage shown by people seeking sanctuary.

“Courage isn’t always loud or bold,” the festival said in its call for submissions. “It can be found in simple acts: opening your door to a neighbor, speaking up, sharing your story – or simply having the courage to be yourself.”

The 2026 edition also coincides with the 75th anniversary of Refugee Convention.

In collaboration with the Athens Coordination Center for Migrant and Refugee Issues, organizers will select four projects for exhibition during Refugee Week Greece, scheduled for June 15-21.

Selected artists will receive a €300 production grant and mentoring support. Applications are open until May 24 and welcome visual art, photography, poetry, video, installation, textile and community-based work.
