Over the years, I’ve noticed two constant points every time I learn something new about the USSR: firstly, the USSR never ceases to amaze me, but secondly the USSR never surprises me either
> Others described women who were tied to trees while men cut off their breasts, calves, and other body parts.
And the article talks of a woman who survived this.
Holy shit
they were given a bag of flour per person, but they didn’t do anything to do something with this flour, they ate all the local animals very quickly and there was very little clean fresh water on the island, as a result, many of them died of dysentery, the guards on the island were simply afraid to intervene for fear that they will take away their weapons. some of them managed to escape by swimming to places with people who came to the island periodically to collect tree bark and were very surprised that people appeared there.
