More than a dozen people have been charged in connection with a conspiracy to smuggle guns from New England into Canada..
The U.S. Attorney’s Office says that between 2021 and 2024, a sophisticated gun trafficking network moved dozens of guns from New Hampshire into Canada through New York and tribal land near the northern border.
“Several of which were subsequently recovered at various crime scenes, to include kidnapping and attempted murder in Canada,” said Thomas Greco, special agent in charge of ATF Boston.
“Today’s charges should send a clear message, a message echoed in a note from one defendant who attempted to obstruct the investigation: ATF is watching,” said U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan.
In all, five people have pleaded guilty, and eight others are charged.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
