In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday following the conclusion of his Beijing trip, President Donald Trump, once again, touted his White House ballroom project, adding that he expects it to open by the fall of 2028.

“China has a Ballroom, and so should the U.S.A.!” Trump said. “It’s under construction, ahead of schedule, and will be the finest facility of its kind anywhere in the U.S.A.”

“Scheduled opening will be around September of 2028,” the president added.

Trump has argued that the ballroom is necessary for security purposes following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Republicans appear uneasy over the allocation of $1 billion for the ballroom as part of a bill to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement, given Americans’ concerns about the rising cost of living exacerbated by Trump’s Iran war. Trump had also previously said the project would be funded by private donations.

While it’s unclear whether the ballroom provision will clear a key procedural hurdle, the White House sees congressional authorization as necessary to put legal challenges to rest.
